What It Means
"Delivery Attempted" means the UPS driver tried to deliver the package but couldn't complete the delivery. Most common reasons: signature was required and no one was home, the address was inaccessible, or the driver needed something (buzzer code, gate code) they didn't have.
UPS will attempt delivery up to 3 total times over 3 consecutive business days. After that, the package is held at a UPS Access Point (often a nearby UPS Store, Michaels, CVS, etc.) for 7 days before being returned to the sender.
What To Do Next
- 1Check the door for a UPS InfoNotice sticker — it has the tracking number and instructions.
- 2Sign up for UPS My Choice (free) to authorize leaving the package without signature, or redirect to a UPS Access Point.
- 3Redirect to a UPS Access Point (nearby store) so you can pick up on your schedule.
- 4Reschedule the next attempt for a day you'll be home.
- 5If all 3 attempts fail, call 1-800-742-5877 to request one more attempt or re-route before the package returns to sender.
