Why each marketplace needs its own shipping approach
“Just print a label” means something different on every platform, because each one draws a different line between what it handles and what you handle. On Poshmark and Mercari the platform generates a prepaid label for you — your job is print, pack, and hit the weight tier. On eBay and Etsy you get discounted in-house labels but choose whether to use them or ship your own way. On Amazon, FBM orders are yours to label while FBA inventory follows Amazon's exacting FNSKU and box-ID rules. And on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, and PayPal sales, there's often no platform label at all — you're the entire shipping department, building the arrangement between two strangers.
Those differences change real decisions: which carrier and service to pick, who carries the risk if a package goes missing, whether tracking uploads automatically or you paste it in by hand, and how seller protection applies. A workflow copied from a Poshmark closet will quietly fail an Amazon FBA shipment, and vice versa. Each platform page below covers that platform's specific label mechanics, prepaid-versus- own-postage tradeoffs, weight and packaging rules, and the tracking-and-protection details that decide whether a sale ends in a five-star review or a dispute.
What stays constant across all of them is the label itself. Whichever marketplace the sale came from, our free label maker formats a clean, scannable USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL label — 4×6 thermal or letter paper, order reference field included, no account required.
