What It Means
"Out for Delivery" means a UPS driver has your package on their truck and will deliver it today. UPS residential delivery typically runs between 9 AM and 7 PM, though the window can stretch to 9 PM during peak season. Unlike USPS, UPS does not publish a specific delivery time window on standard tracking — though UPS My Choice members get a 4-hour window.
Once the driver attempts delivery, the next update will be either 'Delivered' or a delivery exception (e.g., 'Front Door Not Accessible', 'Address Not Found', 'Signature Required').
What To Do Next
- 1Sign up for UPS My Choice (free) to get a 4-hour delivery window.
- 2If signature is required, be home or authorize release online at ups.com/mychoice.
- 3For packages that don't arrive by end of day, check tracking next morning — sometimes scans update overnight.
- 4If marked 'Delivered' but you don't have it, check neighbors, mailroom, and the side/back doors. UPS drivers sometimes mark 'Delivered' as they leave and the actual placement happens in the next few minutes.
