Shipping Tips for Printers

Remove ink or toner cartridges before shipping — cartridges can leak under pressure changes in transit
Use the original styrofoam inserts if available; they're molded to protect the printer's exact dimensions
Without original packaging, use a box at least 4 inches larger than the printer in all dimensions, filled with foam blocks
Tape all moving parts (paper trays, output trays, scanner lids) closed with painters tape to prevent them opening and breaking
UPS Ground and FedEx Ground are better than USPS for heavy printers — USPS caps packages at 70 lbs and handles bulky items less carefully
