How to Print a Shipping Label at The UPS Store
The UPS Store prints shipping labels from emailed PDFs, USB drives, and its own label creation system. If you already have a label PDF (from UPS.com, Pirate Ship, or our tool), you can bring it in and they'll print it for a small fee. If you need a label created from scratch, a UPS Store associate can build and print the label right at the counter using your package information. It's one of the most accessible options for shippers without a home printer.
Step-by-step
- 1
Prepare your label PDF or order details
Option A — you have a label: save the label PDF to your phone, email it to yourself, or bring it on a USB drive. Option B — you need a label created: know the 'to' and 'from' addresses, package weight and dimensions, and your preferred service level (UPS Ground, 2nd Day Air, etc.).
- 2
Find your nearest UPS Store
Use theupsstore.com/tools/find-a-store to locate the closest location. Hours are typically Monday–Friday 8am–7pm, Saturday 9am–5pm, Sunday 11am–4pm (varies by franchise). Most major areas have multiple locations.
- 3
Bring the package and label to the counter
For printing a pre-made label: show the associate your PDF or USB. They print on 4×6 thermal and apply it for you. Cost: typically $1–$3 per label print plus any packing fees if you need supplies.
- 4
For UPS Store-created labels: let them build it
The associate enters your addresses and package details into their system, weighs the package, and calculates the rate. They print and apply the label and accept the package immediately. You pay for shipping + a small service fee.
- 5
Get your receipt and tracking number
The UPS Store provides a receipt with the tracking number. Save this — it's your proof of shipment and the tracking number for the package.
Good to know
- •The UPS Store charges a fee for printing your own label (typically $1–$3) on top of postage if you're bringing a third-party label (e.g., from Pirate Ship or our tool).
- •If you use UPS Store's own label creation, you pay UPS retail rates which are higher than UPS.com rates or negotiated commercial rates — consider buying postage via Pirate Ship first if cost matters.
- •Most UPS Store locations also offer packing services if your item isn't packaged yet — useful for fragile items but adds significant cost.
