How to Change Address on a DHL Express Label
DHL Express labels cannot be edited in place once created. If the package hasn't been picked up yet, cancel the shipment in MyDHL+ and re-create it with the correct address. For in-transit DHL Express shipments, DHL offers a shipment redirect service — available for most international routes — that re-routes the package to a new destination address for a fee. Act quickly: the closer the package is to the destination country, the harder re-routing becomes.
Step-by-step
- 1
Before pickup: cancel and re-create in MyDHL+
Log into mydhl.express.dhl → Manage Shipments → Shipment History. Find the shipment and click Cancel Shipment. Also cancel any associated scheduled pickup. Then create a new shipment with the correct delivery address.
- 2
In transit: request a DHL Redirect
Contact DHL Express Customer Service for your country (in the US: 1-800-225-5345). Provide the waybill number and the correct destination address. DHL will check if a redirect is possible based on the package's current location and transit leg.
- 3
Use MyDHL+ Shipment Tracking to monitor status
Track at mydhl.express.dhl or dhl.com/tracking. If DHL confirms the redirect, the tracking will update to show the new destination. If the redirect isn't possible, the package will deliver to the original address.

Package delivered to wrong address internationally
For international misdeliveries, contact DHL Customer Service immediately. DHL may be able to arrange a return shipment from the wrong country to the correct destination, but this can take days and incurs significant costs.
Good to know
- •DHL Express redirect fees vary by route — domestic redirects are generally cheaper than cross-border ones.
- •Redirects are not guaranteed for all DHL Express services — international Express Worldwide usually has better redirect options than Economy Select.
- •Customs implications: if a package is redirected to a different country than originally declared, new customs documentation may be required.
