How to Change Address on a USPS Shipping Label

You cannot edit an existing USPS label once created — USPS doesn't allow in-place address changes. Your options: void the label and create a new one, or for in-transit packages, use USPS Package Intercept.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Pre-shipment: void and re-create

If the label hasn't been dropped off yet, void the current label (see USPS void guide) and create a new label with the correct address.

  2. 2

    In-transit: USPS Package Intercept

If the package is already in transit, use USPS Package Intercept at usps.com/manage/package-intercept. Fee ~$15 to redirect to a new address.

  3. 3

    Post-delivery (if at wrong address)

Contact the recipient and request return to sender. Alternatively, visit the wrong-address post office with ID and explain the situation — they may hold it.
