How to Void (Cancel) a DHL Shipping Label

DHL calls label voiding 'shipment cancellation.' Available via MyDHL+ up until the pickup is completed.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Log into MyDHL+

Go to mydhl.express.dhl → Manage Shipments → Shipment History. Cancellation must happen in whichever system created the label — labels booked through a shipping platform or marketplace cancel there, not in MyDHL+.

  2. 2

    Select the shipment

Find the label and click to open it. Filter by date or paste the waybill number — every shipment created under your login appears here, including ones whose labels were never printed.

  3. 3

    Cancel the shipment

Click Cancel Shipment. If a pickup is scheduled, cancel the pickup too — otherwise a courier still arrives for a shipment that no longer exists, and repeated dead pickups can affect account standing.

  4. 4

Note what cancellation can no longer do

Once the courier has collected the package, cancellation is off the table — the shipment is in the network. At that point your options shift to DHL's redirect/return services, requested through customer service with the waybill number.

Frequently asked questions

Does DHL refund automatically?
Yes, for postpaid accounts, billing is adjusted to remove the canceled shipment. Prepaid/consumer accounts get a refund in 7-14 days.
What if the package is already picked up?
Once DHL has scanned the package, it cannot be canceled. Contact DHL to request a hold at destination or redirect.
Do I need to cancel the pickup separately?
Yes. Canceling the label doesn't automatically cancel a scheduled pickup. Cancel both via MyDHL+.
What if the courier already has my package?
Cancellation only works pre-collection. After pickup, contact DHL with the waybill number — depending on where the shipment is, DHL can intercept, return, or redirect it as a paid service. The earlier you call, the more options exist; once it's on an international flight, choices narrow fast.
Do prepaid or platform-purchased DHL labels refund the same way?
No — refunds flow back through whoever sold the postage. A label bought on a shipping platform refunds to your platform balance under that platform's rules; only labels created directly in MyDHL+ against your DHL account are adjusted on DHL billing.
Is there a deadline to cancel an unused DHL label?
Practically, cancel as soon as you know the shipment isn't happening. Unused labels tied to account billing are typically not charged once cancelled, but an uncancelled label with a scheduled pickup keeps generating courier visits — cancel both together and the paper trail stays clean.
