Shipping Labels for Amazon FBA Prep & Inbound Shipments
Amazon FBA sellers ship inbound inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers — this is different from shipping to customers. Inbound FBA shipments require specific label formats: shipping plan labels (FBA box ID labels), FNSKU product labels, and carrier labels for the boxes going to the warehouse. The formats are precise and any deviation can cause Amazon to reject or lose your inventory.
ShippingLabel helps FBA sellers generate the carrier portion of inbound labels (not FNSKU product labels — those come from Seller Central). For prep centers handling multiple seller accounts, a fast label tool for the outbound leg to FBA warehouses is essential workflow infrastructure.
Shipping Profile
Shipping Challenges for Amazon FBA Prep
- ⚠️Seller Central's label printing flow is slow and cumbersome for multi-box shipments
- ⚠️Prep centers managing multiple seller accounts need a fast label tool outside Seller Central
- ⚠️Amazon assigns destination warehouses that can change between shipment plans — labels need to be generated fresh each time
- ⚠️Mixed-SKU boxes need accurate box content files and per-box labels
- ⚠️Pallet shipments to Amazon require specific label placement (all four sides)
How ShippingLabel Helps
- ✓Generate carrier labels for FBA inbound boxes quickly without navigating Seller Central's workflow
- ✓Prep centers can process multiple seller shipments in one session
- ✓Thermal-ready PDF format works with Zebra and Rollo printers used in prep centers
- ✓Fast address input for Amazon warehouse addresses that repeat across shipments
Recommended Carriers
Amazon Partnered UPS
Deeply discounted — often 50–70% cheaper than retail UPS rates for FBA inbound. Available directly in Seller Central. Use this as default.
UPS Ground (direct account)
Alternative when Amazon Partnered rates aren't available or you have your own UPS account with better rates for specific lanes
FedEx Freight
For pallet shipments to Amazon warehouses — required when sending 150+ lbs on pallets via LTL
Packaging Strategy
Amazon has strict carton requirements: max 50 lbs per box, max 25 inches on any side (with exceptions for oversized products). Use new corrugated boxes — Amazon rejects visibly damaged or taped-over used boxes. Each carton needs the FBA Shipment ID label placed on the outside of the box AND a carrier label. Don't cover the FBA label with the carrier label or vice versa.
Workflow Tips
- •Always verify Amazon's assigned warehouse address in the current shipment plan — it changes frequently and sending to the wrong address delays receipt by weeks
- •Print your FBA box ID labels from Seller Central and your carrier labels from ShippingLabel separately, then apply both to each box
- •For multi-destination shipment plans (Amazon splits your inventory across warehouses), generate a separate label batch for each destination
- •Photograph each pallet or box stack before carrier pickup — essential for Amazon damage claims
- •If using a prep center, provide them with your Seller Central shipment plan PDF — they need the FBA labels even if you're generating carrier labels separately
