DHL "Delivered" — What to Do If You Can't Find the Package
What It Means
"Delivered" means the DHL courier scanned the package as delivered at the destination address. For packages requiring a signature, a recipient signature was obtained. For packages without signature requirement, 'Delivered' means the courier physically left the package at the address — the location may be the front door, mailbox, building lobby, or other location noted by the driver.
The DHL tracking page typically shows the delivery time and sometimes the name of the person who signed. If you can't locate the package, there are several possible explanations: it was left at a neighbor's address, in a building lobby or package locker, with a building manager, or at the wrong address entirely.
In a small number of cases, 'Delivered' scans are generated prematurely or at the wrong address — this is a carrier error, not a lost package, and DHL can investigate.
What To Do Next
- 1Check everywhere at the delivery address: front door, back door, mailbox area, building lobby, package room, with a neighbor
- 2Check the DHL tracking page for the exact delivery time and any notes (e.g., 'left with neighbor,' 'left at front door')
- 3Ask building management or neighbors if they received your package
- 4Contact DHL customer service with your tracking number and request GPS delivery proof and driver notes — they can see exactly where the driver was when they scanned 'delivered'
- 5If the package is confirmed lost or stolen after delivery, file a claim with DHL and report to local police if theft is suspected
