Why My Shipping Label Isn't Printing — Troubleshooting
Shipping labels failing to print is usually a paper size mismatch, a thermal printer calibration issue, or a print driver problem. Here are the 5 most common fixes in order of likelihood.
Step-by-step
- 1
Wrong paper size in print dialog
If printing on a thermal printer, your print dialog must have 4×6 paper size selected (not Letter). If Letter is selected but you loaded 4×6 labels, the printer may skip, jam, or print blank.
- 2
Scale set to 'Fit to page'
For thermal labels, set scale to 100% or 'Actual Size.' 'Fit to page' can shrink the label, making the barcode unscannable.
- 3
Printer not calibrated for 4×6
Thermal printers need calibration when switching label sizes. Run the calibration procedure (usually hold a button while powering on). See your printer manual.
- 4
Driver issue
Update your thermal printer driver from the manufacturer's site (Rollo, DYMO, Zebra). Outdated drivers can cause print failures.
- 5
Wrong printer selected
Double-check the printer dropdown in your print dialog. PDF may default to your inkjet even if the thermal printer is connected.
