Hawaii's single biggest shipping lever is the same one Alaska enjoys, and most island sellers underuse it: USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate costs exactly the same from Honolulu as from Ohio. While every zone-priced and carrier-air alternative bills you for the ocean, flat rate pretends it isn't there. For dense parcels in the 1-20 lb range, the flat-rate boxes are routinely the cheapest way off the islands -- often by a wide margin over UPS or FedEx equivalents.
Where flat rate doesn't fit, USPS still generally beats the private carriers from Hawaii on everyday parcels, because the Postal Service's universal-service pricing doesn't treat the islands as a premium lane.
