How to Ship to Poland from the US

Yes, you can ship to Poland from the US with USPS. USPS hands the parcel to Poczta Polska, the Polish postal service, for delivery. DHL, FedEx and UPS also deliver to Poland, and they clear customs for you. Many Polish-American families also use Polish parcel services for big boxes.

Poland is in the EU, so EU import rules apply. Polish VAT is 23% on most goods, at any value. Since July 1, 2026, online orders of €150 or less also carry a flat €3 EU duty. Below are USPS's real prices, the tax rules, the items USPS won't carry and how to address the parcel.

Customs Forms Required

Every parcel needs a customs form. It prints with the label when you buy postage online. List each item, its value, its 6-digit HS code and its country of origin (and your EORI number, if you have one). Add the recipient's phone number and email.

How Much Does It Cost to Ship to Poland?

These are the counter prices at any US Post Office, in force since July 12, 2026. Buy the label online and you save a dollar or two on most weights. The October 2026 holiday surcharge applies only inside the US, so these prices still hold.

First-Class Package International (up to 4 lb, up to $400 in value): $21.85 for 8 oz, $29.95 for 1 lb, $33.45 for 2 lb, $48.90 for 3 lb and $66.25 for 4 lb. Online: $28.44 for 1 lb.
Priority Mail International (up to 44 lb, insurance available): $69.40 for 1 lb, $73.40 for 2 lb, $92.30 for 5 lb, $125.20 for 10 lb and $191.05 for 20 lb. Online: $67.17 for 1 lb.
Priority Mail Express International: $81.40 for 0.5 lb, $83.95 for 1 lb and $109.55 for 5 lb.

💡 Weigh the box before you go. At 4 lb or less, First-Class Package International costs $66.25 at most. At 4 lb 1 oz, only Priority Mail International is left, and 5 lb costs $92.30.

VAT and the New €3 EU Duty

Polish customs (Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa) applies the EU's import rules. Since July 2021 there is no tax-free amount for goods you buy, so even a cheap order pays Polish VAT (podatek VAT).

Polish VAT is 23% for most goods, one of the higher rates in the EU. On a $50 sweater, VAT on the goods alone is $11.50. Shipping costs are usually taxed too.
Shops registered for IOSS add the VAT to the price at checkout, for orders up to €150. Then Poczta Polska or the courier should not ask for it again at the door.
Shops not registered for IOSS leave the VAT to your recipient, who pays it before the parcel is released. The carrier may add a handling fee.
Since July 1, 2026 the EU also charges €3 per product type on online orders of €150 or less. It is billed to the seller or importer.
A gift sent by one private person to another is free of duty and VAT if it is worth €45 or less. Mark it as a gift and list each item truthfully.

What USPS Won't Carry to Poland

USPS's country rules for Poland ban arms of any kind, coins, banknotes, currency and other valuables. They also ban items Poland deems against its interests, infectious biological substances and radioactive materials.

Two more rules matter. Funeral urns need a permit. And USPS warns that many goods need a Polish import permit. The recipient is the one who knows, so ask before you send anything unusual, such as food, plants or medicine.

How to Address a Package to Poland

Polish addresses put the street name first and the number after it. Street names often start with 'ul.' (ulica, street) or 'al.' (aleja, avenue).

Recipient's full name.
Street, house number and flat number, for example ul. Marszałkowska 100/5.
Postal code with the dash, then the city, for example 00-026 WARSZAWA.
POLAND.
Add the recipient's phone number and email on the customs form.

ℹ️ Polish letters such as ł, ś and ż are fine if your label supports them. If not, write the plain letter (l, s, z). The postal code matters most.
